The Adele Francis Foundation


The Adele Francis Foundation is a charitable trust established to support cancer research and to foster a research ethos within the treatment of breast cancer. The Foundation honours the memory of Professor Adele Francis, the first female breast surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital,Birmingham, who passed away prematurely at the age of 57 in 2017.Professor Francis was the architect of the Association of Breast Surgeons current research strategy. She became the lead for breast cancer research at the Royal College of Surgeons in 2013 and an Honorary Professor in cancer sciences in 2016. Her work ethic and contribution to her chosen field of expertise were exemplary and her legacy inimitable.
